    Patrick Bamford

Never heard of him? No neither have I. He's an 18 year old striker, currently plays for Notts Forest, and we've apparently put in a £1 bid for him. If true, he'll be another one for the future, clearly:

Villas-Boas looks to the future with £1m bid for Forest starlet Bamford

Chelsea have made a £1m offer for Nottingham Forest teenager Patrick Bamford.

Andre Villas-Boas has made a move for the 18-year-old forward which could rise to £1.5m, dependent on appearances.

Bamford has made two appearances from the bench for Forest and played for just 12 minutes.

But he has scored a staggering nine goals in the club's last two academy matches.

Wes Morgan's ten-year spell at Nottingham Forest is over after the club accepted a £1m offer from Leicester City.

Forest have rejected an enquiry from Birmingham City to sign Lewis McGugan on loan.

We haven't signed him yet but Forest have confirmed that we've made a bid

    From ESPN:

Forest confirm Chelsea bid for Bamford

Chelsea have made a £1.5 million bid for Nottingham Forest striker Patrick Bamford, according to Forest boss Steve Cotterill.

Bamford, 18, has made just two substitute appearances during his short career at the City Ground, but has reportedly attracted attention from a number of clubs.

Cotterill is set to discuss the bid with his chairman as he does not expect Bamford to sign a new deal with the east midlands club.

"There has been a bid for him from Chelsea, it is for £1.5million,'' Cotterill told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"The problem we have is that Patrick has been offered a couple of contracts now and I am not sure he will sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest.

"We are going to have a meeting to decide where that goes. What materialises, we will find out shortly.''

Its good that the club is making progress in signing these youngsters.

For 1.5mil, it could well be a good deal for us. Lets hope he is as good as they say.

    Confirmation from the official site:

    TEENAGER BAMFORD JOINS

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of 18-year-old striker Patrick Bamford from Nottingham Forest.

Patrick joins us on a permanent deal after making two first-team appearances for Forest, his debut having come as a substitute on the last day of 2011 against Cardiff City, and he will go into the reserve setup with Dermot Drummy.

In pre-season, the Grantham-born England Under 18 international scored a hat-trick against us in a youth team friendly, and has recently shown his goalscoring capabilities in the FA Youth Cup, scoring five times in a 9-1 win over Wigan Athletic before netting four in the next round at Southampton last week. Because of his involvement with Forest, Patrick will be cup-tied for our own Youth Cup campaign.

He was a second-half substitute against Chelsea in the Youth Cup back in 2010 when still a 16-year-old. That was the season we won the competition.

With Forest since he was eight, Bamford debuted for the national Under 18s in November 2010, and is also capable of playing on the left wing.

But he won't join the first team right?

No., he's definitely one for the future. On Chelsea TV not long ago they were talking about him being cup-tied for the FA Youth Cup.

Thats good, we now have a lot of talented young players.
We might not perform well at present, but the future is surely bright for us!

McEachran, Piazon, Bertrand, Sturridge, Lukaku so many to name....

Now we just have to hope that AVB finds the courage to select some of these young players for the first team.

Time will tell. He was considered good enough for the National Under 18s team in 2010, so presumably the selection committee there rated his talent. Let us hope Chelsea are able to develop his skills.

Patrick Bamford speaking to Chelsea TV:

CHELSEA TV EXCLUSIVE: BAMFORD SETS HIS SIGHTS

Chelsea's latest acquisition, Patrick Bamford, completed his move to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the January transfer window, and the youngster, who will join up with the reserve squad, is still trying to come to terms with a rapid, surprising turn of events.

The Blues signed the highly-rated 18-year-old from Nottingham Forest, where he has already been involved in two first team matches, but it's the FA Youth Cup where Bamford has shone, scoring four goals in Forest's last 16 win against Southampton.

'It was an easy decision to make in the end,' he told Chelsea TV. 'I knew there had been talks going on for a while, but when my dad told me to get ready because we were going down to Chelsea I couldn't believe it.

'It's hard because I grew up supporting Nottingham Forest, but I had to think about my future development as a player.

Bamford comes across very well; articulate, intelligent and with a clear view of how he wants his career to develop at the club.

He has already been shown around the training ground at Cobham, where he will link up with the rest of the youngsters currently representing our reserve and youth sides, but happened to bump into one of his favourite players while enjoying the guided tour, as he explained.

'My goals here are simply to progress as a player, develop and hopefully one day to go on and train with the first team.

'I grew up watching players such as Didier Drogba, and Frank Lampard who I met in the physios' room, so to play with them and people like Fernando Torres would be amazing.'

Bamford describes himself as 'quick, left-footed and with an eye for goal', and as his new side prepare to take on West Ham in the next round of the FA Youth Cup, the opportunity to see a few old friends may come around sooner than he thought.

'I hope Chelsea beat West Ham now because the winners will play Nottingham Forest in the next round, it would be very special to go back,' he sai

Hope he does well for the youth team and progresses onto the first team.
AVB's making good progress with signing youngsters but we are not sure if he will actually still be there when the youngsters move on to play in the first team.
