Ben Gordon to Face Celtic in Cup Final

    From the Express:
BEN GORDON WANTS CUP GLORY BEFORE CHELSEA MATES

BEN GORDON last night set his sights on marking the season with a winner’s medal before any of his millionaire Chelsea team-mates.

The 20-year-old left-back has returned to Kilmarnock from Stamford Bridge for a second spell on loan after doing well in the first half of last term.

And he made it to the League Cup final in just his third game back in the blue-and-white stripes by helping see off local rivals Ayr United 1-0 after extra-time at Hampden.

His superstar colleagues such as John Terry, Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres progressed to the next round of the FA Cup with a win over QPR just a few hours later and are still competing in the Champions League and Premiership.

However, Gordon will have first crack at lifting silverware when Killie face Celtic at the National Stadium on March 18.

And he won’t be slow in telling his pals in Andre Villas-Boas’ stellar squad about his glory day should Kenny Shiels’ men snatch the trophy.

Gordon said: “When Kenny first phoned me about coming back up, he mentioned Ayr in the semi-final and it’s worked out great for me getting to a final.

“It vindicates my decision because I spoke to people at Chelsea and they said I was going to play regularly in the SPL and have a chance of days like this.It is great at my age.

“I now hope I can get a medal before some of the boys down at Stamford Bridge.”

Gordon was one of Killie’s better players in the derby clash with Ayr and feared he was going to have to take a penalty in a shoot-out before Dean Shiels’ bagged the extra-time winner.

Barring enforced change, we're currently due to play Man City on March 19th, so touch wood, there shouldn't be anything to prevent us from watching the game and cheering Ben and Killie on in the Final.
